HTC Touch Dual receives WinMo 6.1 Update If you head over to the HTC website and dodge around that big "G1" thing you'll find an update for the HTC Touch Dual at the bottom of this page. It's the Windows Mobile 6.1 upgrade and will bring you.. "improved usability, messaging and connectivity features". There's also the threaded SMS system, enhanced Internet Explorer, setup simplification, improved battery and video call performance and more. The update, unfortunately, is only for those of you who bought the handset direct from HTC and is therefore unlocked. Philip Barclay has just tried to grab it but the site chucked an error message, so let me know if you've managed to grab it and what you think. T-Mobile Shadow II - Right around the corner? Back in April we spotted some blurry shots of the T-Mobile Shadow II. Now more have appeared, courtesy of CellPhone Signal. It looks like the phone is getting ready for market at last and it seems to function a lot like the HTC Touch Dual. Rumour has it that it'll be available in the US from October 15th, although we'll have more details for you later hopefully. Click the link below for more pics. HTC S740 Pricing and ETA If you read our HTC S740 review and are busy saving up, there's some good news from Devicewire. They've got the unlocked HTC S740 priced up at £339.99 (which is £289.35 without the VAT) and stock is expected in just a few weeks time on October 23rd. I was pretty impressed with the S740. It's got that classic "phone shape" and numeric keypad whilst packing a QWERTY slider behind. Powered by a 528Mhz Qualcomm CPU it runs Windows Mobile Standard (no touch screen) and has 3G / HSDPA, WiFi and Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity along with GPS, FM radio and a 3.2 megapixel camera. Devicewire are also adding lots of special bundles onto their site. Instead of just buying a phone you can now have sat-nav software or microSD cards bundled in. o2 releases WinMo 6.1 update for XDA Orbit 2 o2 have just put the Windows Mobile 6.1 update online for the o2 XDA Orbit 2. The update brings better battery management, (slightly) improved Internet Explorer experience and a quick start help system. You'll need a valid IMEI to proceed, and as usual we'd advise backing everything up and charging your battery. Let's just hope Microsoft find a way to roll out updates without zapping all your stuff when Windows Mobile 7 comes out.. Moto Q 11 Goes official The Motorola Q 11 has been rumoured for a while now, but Motorola have now gone all official with details appearing on their site. Yes, a Windows Mobile phone from Motorola. It's been years since we saw such a thing here in the UK. The Q11 uses Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard, so no touch-screen, but there's WiFi, GPS and quad-band connectivity to keep you hooked into the grid. Alas there's no 3G from what we can see, which is a little strange. Around the back you'll find a 3 megapixel camera with flash, whilst inside is 128MB of Flash with 64MB RAM and a microSD slot for even more storage. A healthy 1170 mAh battery will give you plenty of usage, especially when you're tapping away on that QWERTY keyboard up front. Bluetooth and an Intel Bulverde CPU also feature, although it looks like Moto haven't done added in any GUI enhancements from this photo. No details as yes on prices or which network will carry this. Samsung Omnia updates Got a Samsung Omnia ? Oh, you lucky sausage. Now you can upgrade it .. ummm.. if you're in France, Italy, Malasyia, Singapore or the Philippines. Uh-huh.. Where's the update for other countries? We're not sure. Keep an eye on this Samsung page though, because we're sure more countries will be along soon. Not much is known about the contents of the update, although a quick bit of translation tells us that "This new software version has new features and several bug fixes".
